I've listened to Thom Hartmann's show for over a decade. He is very thoughtful and intelligent. He really tries to get to a deeper understanding of both the left and the right and tries to find common ground. However he is not afraid to debate conservatives. His knowledge of history and science are outstanding and his commentaries are very well researched and backed with supporting evidence. I have a few conservative friends and coworkers that have often agreed with Thom Hartmann.

Thom Hartmann is the guy to listen to if you want clear, concise explanations of what is going on in this crazy country of ours. His knowledge of history and his ability to tie it into the present is remarkable. His callers are usually informed citizens with good words to share. I learn a lot every time I listen.

Excellent show! I especially like how both supporting and opposing voices are heard. This loads my quiver so I can “combat” my right-wing friends and family! I just wish the ads weren’t so repetitive…I’m fine hearing about the same product (e.g. Grubhub, Ancestry.com, etc.) 3-4 times in one show, but please make the ads sound different, such as a different script, or different people talking about the product.

Thank you for the informative, engaging and challenging program you create everyday. The fact that at the end of your program you “tag” people to get active in these challenging and polarizing times, is quite refreshing.

On the subject of religion, program 812&908. I wanted to share an experience that will give a window on why religion has become extremely unpopular, and dropping in attendance to 47% or 44% compared to 73% in 1951, as you mentioned in your program.

Fundamentalist and Evangelical sects specifically have been embracing, facilitating, and promoting (sometimes with the help of the state for self-preservation) psychological maneuvers and tactics directionally opposite to the spiritual nature they profess to their faithful followers. They use coercive techniques to dominate and lead groups of believers, who blindly follow in search of feeling socially identified.

From their position of absolute power and self-proclaimed divine representation, they point to and signal those individuals who their leaders dislike, guiding their loyal ones “to treat that person or family worse than a sinner” for being of a different ethnicity, not bending to their will/doctrines, or for being independent in their thinking.

So, the exodus drop in attendance has to do, in my view and personal experience, with control, fear based tactics, and sadistic behaviors adopted by different religious groups and not the lack of willingness for spiritual growth.

It is true what you promote, that “Democracy is NOT a Spectator Sport, it requires all of us”.

Wish I could recommend but the generative AI “songs” in every episode are grating and undercut its message. Sad to see a progressive voice promoting this anti-creative, anti-worker grift instead of licensing real music or employing real songwriters.
