Every morning, I look forward to hearing Father Mike read the Bible and speak from his heart with words of wisdom, encouragement, and truth. His enthusiasm for Scripture is contagious. As a Protestant evangelical, I have been greatly blessed by this podcast. I have no doubt that it will strengthen your faith, grow your knowledge of the Bible, and help you better understand God, his love for you and what he desires for your life. Give it a chance…you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve tried to read the entire Bible before but failed. It was difficult to read and understand. This podcast is truly and quite literally a Godsend for me and, I believe, for people like me who are seeking to understand the Word as well as the context of the scriptures. Fr. Mike has a gift for reading and explaining the scriptures. When he says at the beginning of each day that the intent is to understand “how the story of salvation unfolds and how we fit into that story today”, he couldn’t be more accurate. That is exactly what this does. The way the Bible in a year reading plan is organized is amazing and greatly aids understanding. I’ve learned so much! And I am very thankful. And the great thing is I can do it all over again! What a gift!

I’ve been listening to the podcast all year (almost through the whole Bible!), and have been so edified and encouraged. Fr. Mike does an excellent job not only of reading the scriptures, but also helps his hearers understand and apply the readings to their lives. It is also a beautiful thing that he thanks God after every set of readings for the words, as well as His grace in the gift of the word and of the day. Fr. Mike’s continual reminder that he’s praying for his hearers and his encouragement for them to pray for him and each other is an excellent example if faith and a reminder to put faith into action.

I first started listening to this podcast thinking, “sure, I can listen as a Protestant and pick what I need around the ‘Catholic stuff’…after all, it’s the number one podcast so there must be a reason”. I didn’t want to miss out on the “why” of what makes this podcast and Father Mike so appealing. Well, shortly in I figured it out. He’s so engaging, down to earth, real, honest, and just genuinely excited about The Lord, which is therefore contagious. His transmission of the Bible to my ears and hearing his heart felt thoughts on the passages have changed my entire life….literally. I am now in RCIA ready to take the steps to become Catholic. I couldn’t be more shocked at my personal transformation through this practice of listening and contemplating The Bible and also The Catechism via the Catechism In A Year podcast (also with Father Mike)—I did not see this coming but I’m so elated to be where I am today with my faith. Thank you Ascension Press and thank you Father Mike and all of those behind the scenes that make this happen. You are all transforming lives by sharing the love of Jesus Christ.
