I’ve suffered terribly from panic, high anxiety, and social isolation bordering on agoraphobia for years and spent countless hours sitting on therapists sofas crying and talking about it. Not a thing they said helped, but this podcast has been magical in its ability to teach me meaningful and doable ways to live with the issues while making peace with my emotional responses to them. One of my therapists is Buddhist, and he tried telling me to breathe through it, or change my focus, etc — which helped not at all! What has helped is to look at the symptoms compassionately and tell the frightened parts of myself that despite how it feels, we’re truly safe — and then do the hard thing anyway until it stops being hard. It’s not looking away that helps, it’s looking AT! Each time I looked away, I was validating that there was something scary to run from! Thank you, Drew! You’re awesome!!! Sending you so much love and gratitude!

I am so glad I found Drew’s podcast and his anxiety guide book! I had much trouble with anxiety stemming from health concerns, to the point where I was starting to have regular panic and started on a medication (which didn’t help much).
This podcast and its science-based, acceptance-based approaches to anxiety and panic have helped me tremendously to shape my approach in handling my health worries. I’m in a much better place now after teaching my lizard brain the right way to respond to anxiety! It’s hard work but it pays off.

I stumbled upon this podcast when I was searching for shows about dealing with panic attacks. I found the episode to be very helpful and I’ve learned from Drew’s other episodes, too! For me, it’s easier to access and less expensive than therapy, and I plan to keep listening and applying what I’m learning.
