What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

I have been listening from the beginning and continue to love this podcast, changes and all. I love hearing stories that we can all relate to or have experienced ourselves and may be somewhat embarrassed how we responded/reacted/fell for. It helps bring perspective and I love hearing the psychology behind some of the actions. True gem of a podcast!

At times, background “mood” musics softly totters along despite not apparently having any relationship with the narration. The “mood” is set for a feeling of bewilderment , as if some important clue/information or reveal is occurring. Typically this would convey a sense of mystery but here it is just disconnected from the narrative and disorienting. Very annoying and distracting. Sound editor needs to reconsider these choices. Sorry to nitpick but I can hardly focus on the narrative.

I really enjoyed the earlier seasons, which focused on storytelling. Lately, though, there seem to be more episodes/seasons centered around ongoing conversations, interviews, and counselor discussions, and I find those much less engaging. Several of my friends feel the same way. I would love to see the podcast return to its original storytelling format. Those stories are what made it so compelling and engaging in the first place. Please consider bringing those back and reducing the number of interview-style episodes.

This podcast has some strong seasons, but season 22 is incredibly repetitive. The episodes are filled with overlapping audio and content, which feels unnecessary and becomes boring and annoying. This season could easily have been cut in half, as many episodes rehash previously shared information without offering anything new.

I used to really love this show. It was interesting and felt like it was really putting things out there that needed to be outed. The latest season just seems really mean to me. This girl obviously has mental health problems and these two people pretended to be her friend and now are on a podcast making fun of her with the host for the world to hear. You’re supposed to be an advocate for victims - mental illness is not something to make fun of for entertainment. Very teenager - mean girl of you. They say in the latest episode you have empathy but the cackling and making fun proves otherwise . These kids are not “survivors” ……..

Andi!!!!! · Aug 2026

Spoiler alert: the betrayal comes from the two people who pretended to be friends with a woman with Factitious Disorder in order to get more content to gossip about her on a podcast. This train wreck lacks any care or nuance for mental health. It’s cruel mean girl behavior.
