As a true crime fan, I have heard the same true crime stories across multiple podcasts and feel like I’ve run out of content. BUT ALAS!! I found Small Town Murder!! Jimmie and James are comedians who tell Small Town Murder stories that you probably never heard of. They are HILARIOUS! When Jimmie and James add comedy to true crime, it reminds us how stupid the criminals are, instead of glorifying them or making them seem like these monsters on pedestals. No, Jimmie and James take the criminals down a peg and tell it like it is. Also love how they describe each little town and all of our silly traditions, festivals, and how crappy it is everywhere 😆😆😆 love you guys! You’ve got a new fan girl! ♥️♥️♥️

Incredibly well researched while still being hysterical and not trivializing or disrespecting the victims. I also love the background on the towns which provides additional insight most podcasts don’t even touch on. Highly recommended!

After one episode, I was hooked. Listening to these guys talk is like swapping crazy stories with your new buddies at a bar. They keep me laughing but never come across as disrespectful toward victims. Great storytellers and very good at setting the scene and keeping you interested. Having been raised in a small town full of crazies myself, I appreciate them choosing stories set in places most folks haven’t even heard of. Officially a fan.

First of all, it’s just funny. I laugh audibly several times per episode. The hosts have great chemistry. More importantly though, I’m actually hearing about cases I haven’t heard on every other podcast. I don’t mind that other podcasts cover the same cases, they usually put their own spin on it, but when you’ve heard the same story 5 times, there’s usually not new information. I started listening several months ago and have been going back through the episodes since. If you like comedy and you’re into true crime, this is an amazing blend of the two.

Listened to part of one episode and could go no further. It took about half the episode before they even got close to talking about the murder. They come across as two bad morning radio DJ bros… convinced they are so funny and cool that everyone just wants to hear them swear a lot and talk about nothing. I didn’t find them funny or cool. Bad, lazy storytelling with lots of stereotypes and tropes thrown in for good measure. There are so many better shows out there.

I LOVED this show for years. But recently it feels like they are running out of material. I saw them live two years ago and it was an amazing show. I saw them again just recently and it was really disappointing. The entire show was pulled from a CBS article with the same information and photos. And it wasn’t even funny. Most of the jokes were about the twin reviews. The murder itself, the murderer, the police, all the usual suspects, etc. were not amusing characters. And at the end, the show felt like it ended abruptly with no real satisfaction. This is the Brighton, NY axe murder for anyone wondering. Anyway, it just feels like they are forcing material if this was the best they could muster for a live show.
