This podcast makes me feel seen. I’ve been a journalist for 20 years and often encounter shallow, misinformed arguments dismissing the hard work that so many unsung reporters have done. This podcast lays out the difficult ethical questions journalists encounter every day and the hard work they put in to get it right. But neither does it defend our mistakes! It is so good at laying out the daunting challenges and questions reporters face every day and how they navigate them, regardless of whether they were successful.

I loved the V interview. Brian pulled insightful lessons for trad journos from V and also “played the heavy” on issues like how V deals with fact-checking and corrections.

As a journalist, I’m thankful for what I learn from every episode of this podcast. You are asking the right questions.

I really appreciate the way this podcast manages to combine thoughtful, reflective journalism about the past while asking urgent questions about the present. Truly excellent reporting which I find very thought-provoking.

This show asks provocative and necessary questions about the place of journalism in today’s world, at home and internationally. I particularly liked the interview with the filmmaker who pursued the question of who killed Palestinian-American journalist Shirin Abu Akleh and what the story tells us about war, journalism, and expectations of transparency re: violence against journalists
