I’m always glad to see a new Pod Save America episode drop! One of my favorites. I always laugh, always learn something, and always come away with great book recs, leaders and topics to learn more about, and a brighter view on the political landscape. It’s realistic but uplifting, and the guys always end with specific things we can all do to make our communities and country better.

I cannot recommend this podcast enough. I’ve spent a long time trying to get the most cliff notes version of political updates by skimming things online quickly because every political show makes me want to hide in a cave or leaves me frazzled. It’s all too sensationalized and intense for my sensitive soul. Enter Pod Save America and I can finally casually listen to politics without feeling the world is coming to an end this very moment (even if things are not great). These folks have a way of being realistic, intelligent, informed, and yet calming, grounded, funny, and positive. They focus on action items and breaking down what the layperson needs to know about democracy in their book Democracy or Else so I feel less helpless and more hopeful. This is exactly what I’ve always wanted in political experts. I finally feel easily connected to what matters and well informed while keeping sane through these wild times. Thank you!

I have followed and listened to this pod since the beginning. It is simply the best combination of expertise and humor out there when it comes to politics. This is clearly aimed at a very left leaning crowd, but they back up what they are saying with well researched guests and experts as well as their own knowledge. I’ll be honest it has been very difficult to want to stay abreast of our political climate in the last several years. And there have been times where I have taken a break from the pod because knowing more can sometimes be anxiety inducing. However, the guys go deep, but keep it humorous. The interviews are so good and the guests are stellar. I can’t recommend this more highly!

... and funny whenever it can be. Favs, Lovett, Tommy, and Dan dissect the news in a thoughtful and whip-smart way, bring clarity to the current madness, and restore my hope in society twice a week. If it weren’t for these guys and their panel of progressively minded and intelligent guests, I would not have survived the years 2016 - 2020.

This was a tough episode for me to listen to. As someone who is trying to win their working class, conservative, Trump loving family members to the other side, this interview confirmed all the stereotypes about Democrats. Both the hosts and Doug Emhoff bantered about their lifestyles, ignorantly not realizing how different their lives are from the middle class. I think it breeds both distrust of and disgust for all Democrats.

A second disappointment was the complete lack of acknowledgment of the plight of the Palestinian people. Not mentioning it is just as dehumanizing as Trump’s hateful descriptions of others. Possibly more so, because at least Trump acknowledges their existence.

I was also disappointed with the episode about the Harris/Walz interview. Among other things, I wanted to hear thoughts on why she didn’t answer Dana’s questions about whether or not she asked for Biden’s support. The fact that she evaded the question created suspicion and distrust, especially alongside her story about making breakfast which seemed wholly contrived.

I really want Kamala to win and it feels like the Democrats are making the same old mistakes as before.

100% white dudes & white male guests. For an election featuring a female Presidential candidate and where women are expected to be the overwhelming majority of voters, this podcast is a microcosm of white male myopia.
They alone will speak, analyze, pontificate, and totally ignore diversity of opinions from women, African Americans, Asians, & Hispanics.
