I loved Birds With Friends with Bo and Sheil. They understood that no one needs another "hot take" podcast based on news that everyone got on Twitter 12 hours earlier. They understood that the audience liked spending time with them (as people) as they used the Eagles as the foundation for conversation.

When ZB was added to the mix it was varying degrees of painful, but Bo and Sheil still understood the assignment, no matter how stubbornly Zach clung to the notion that they needed to be a breaking news podcast or sports talk radio. The tension worked on some level.

Since moving to PHLY Zach has clearly decided (possibly with the encouragement of management) that the path to fame and fortune is to turn this into the blandest, most predictable sports blather pod, devoid of personality or creativity. Yes, Zach, many of us do prefer to hear about interesting down roster players who flashed that other outlets are ignoring and aren't fascinated by hearing that Jalen Carter was...what was expected.

Bo's frustration is palpable. It's clear the co-hosts care for and respect each other. But if they were an improv troop or a talk show they'd both be kicked out for constantly negating each other. They each need their own shows with a co hosts whose visions align with theirs.

But if they split and did separate shows I don't know which would be "better" or more popular. But I know I would tune into Bo's in hopes of being entertained. I likely wouldn't give Zach's a chance.

Loved BwF, now I can barely listen. Still love the Bo/Zach rapport. But the PHLY version just has too many shows per week, so the conversation is duplicative and watered down. Modern media economics ruined a beautiful thing. If this show were 3x/week and no gambling ads (really, either of those), it’s a 5/5.

Berman is very knowledgeable and is very good at articulating his football thoughts, and so is Wulf! The issue with this podcast is the chemistry between the hosts is only evident when football is a talked about (which is only like 35% of the time). The other portion of the podcast is Wulfs Trumpian hubris taking over the conversations and making it frequently uncomfortable to listen. Berman is a good sport but definitely cedes too much to Wulfs arrogance. Shame because I think both guys are very talented as writers and football minds but the personality clash is just way too uncomfortable.

I can rarely get through an entire episode due to Bo Wulf's intensely annoying habit of incessantly fake wheeze-laughing after every other sentence uttered by Zach Berman. And the female in the background guffawing every 30 seconds. Enough. If they can fix that, I'd likely give this 4 or 5 stars.
