Nightmare Next Door - Podcast Rankings and reviews

Content of this podcast is outstanding. The one thing that bothers me is the puns; they come off as callous, and in very poor taste- without regard to how victims/family members of victims might react to these completely inappropriate puns. Just drop that part, and you’ll have an even better production.

For the love of god read and listen to the many reviews pleading with you to stop the same tired puns and jokes. It’s so flippant and actually kind of disturbing to use them when telling of such terrible acts of violence. These stories are much more than simple entertainment. The puns sometimes literally make me turn off the podcast and not turn it on again until I am desperate for something to listen to. It would be decent otherwise. The music & sounds could use work, they are a bit distracting. Truly I think the things being done to try to set this pod apart are actually hurting it, but the content is decent and different enough that the other stuff feels unnecessary.

The material is good and put together well. The narrator ruins the whole podcast. After a couple episodes, his similes become beyond irritating….more irritating than listening to 30 students scratching their nails across a chalkboard. These stupid sayings are put in to emphasize and exaggerate points every few minutes. Unfortunately, he is so overly dramatic making the show seem less of a grownup true crime podcast and more of a gossip podcast. I cannot listen to him anymore, so I am unfollowing. I like the content, but there are plenty of other shows.

I love the fact that more people get to hear these peoples stories. It’s important and valid.However calling people hookers and fry cooks is just really lame. Also just generally makes jokes based off where they lived or specially how they died isn’t a good look and makes it look like you really don’t care about the people who suffered brutal crimes and more so you care about the money.

I so wanted to like this because the crimes covered are very interesting. However, the narration is beyond cheesy with constant euphemisms and similes. It’s actually very disrespectful and irreverent of the stories being told of lost lives of loved ones.

Not only are the puns completely stupid and cheesy, but they’re distasteful and seem to be making light of horrible situations. I was listening to one about an 8 year old girl being murdered and could not get past the host/narrator/whatever making constant jokes about suspects and situations. It’s gross and so inconsiderate. Do better.
