What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

I love this show. It is one I intentionally choose when working on house/garden projects to help pass the time. Feedback for consideration: I don't enjoy at all loud background music as special effect. The music in Episode 254 ruined it completely for me. I want to hear the story. There's no need to fire up the nervous system with dramatic music. I had to shut that one off within a few minutes. I hope you release that one again without background special effects

In recent episodes, I can't help but notice the mispronunciation and inconsistencies between both hosts in regard to how a name/place is pronounced (as mentioned by other reviewers) along with other errors. It's very jarring to hear examples such as: “and he even mentioned the couple's Aupar, Verena Dierkes.” Especially when au pair has been said several times beforehand. “And his name was Stephen (pronounced as Steven) Smirk. ... Stephane (pronounced as Stefan) Smirk was a computer programmer" Even with the latest episode, within 3 mins there was such an obvious misreading: “And from the moment their parents brought Casei home, Sarah in particular was head over heels for her babysitter.” I normally try to ignore most errors or chalk it up to a difference in pronunciation but due to the frequency, I felt compelled to point it out. I appreciate the work and effort it must take to produce the show and I do enjoy the podcast overall!

I watch/listen to a lot of true crime shows and this is by far my favorite one. The cases are interesting, the stories are told in a way that is both compelling and compassionate, and there is zero banter/speculation from the hosts. My only gripe is that I would like less stories involving children—they’re just so hard to listen to and I ultimately have to skip a lot of the episodes. Love you guys!

I’m absolutely love MIA! I follow all the true crime podcasts and this is my favorite. I love the narration, super creepy. The only thing I didn’t like was, you’ve been on vaca for a month and the first show back is: the yogurt shop murders? Ugh, this story was your first episode so, it’s been done by you and it’s been done ad nauseaum by every true crime podcast out there. I was ready for a fresh story. Other than that, love you guys!

Update 7/14/26–Updating this to a 1 star now. They are producing too much content which is down grading the quality. 4 parts for one story? Also, all the clips is not what we want to hear. We want it summarized. I want to start off by saying I’ve been listening to these guys for years. My favorite is Mio Pigs. But last year or so they have been posting episodes with lengthy audio clips instead of summarizing what they are speaking about. It almost seems to be like they are pumping out more content but the quality of it is going down hill. I would say listen to an early episode compared to one in the last year. This podcast is turning into quantity over quality.
