Sean Kipe’s Drowning Creek led me to the rest of his amazing podcasts this year, and when I was finally caught up, he announced this weekly series with Jason Hoch—kismet! I really enjoy hearing their take on a variety of crimes, and the show volleys between more lighthearted and more serious topics. If you’re unfamiliar with either host, I’d recommend listening to Sean’s other long-form series first as it will familiarize you to his empathetic and dogged approach to solving those cases, and you will better appreciate this more lighthearted series. I’m also really enjoying getting to know Jason via this series as well!

I have always enjoyed watching crime shows, but never though it would translate to a podcast because of the visuals of TV. I was wrong! This show gave me the crime stories I’m interested in and also kept it interesting. Jason and Sean do a
Good job together and kept me engaged.

There’s something about these guys that is so real and almost comforting. They’re curious, knowledgeable, interesting, and don’t give off any kind of arrogant vibe. And, not sure who the woman is that occasionally laughs in the background, but please keep that up - it cracks me up and makes me smile. Thanks for the great show!

I’m only about 15 episodes in and so far I really like it. Interesting and varied topics and the hosts seem to be genuine. The ONLY complaint I have is that sometimes you can hear people talking or laughing in the background and it’s distracting and annoying. If this is unintentional, you need better sound editors.

I’m sorry. I was really enjoying this show until one of the hosts said something so ignorant, that I literally could not listen to the rest of the episode. I had to rewind three times to make sure I understood. I believe it was Sean who said “short end of the stick on that one” while whining because the husband is spoken to/looked at first in murder investigations. Just a reminder that your last episode was literally about a husband who murdered his wife. But just to help you understand better, in 2021, 34% of murdered women were killed by their intimate partner. By comparison, only 6% of men were killed by their partners. You can find this information on Google, or just by watching one of the many 20/20 episodes you guys referenced in this conversation. But yes, how sad that the husband is always the first suspect. Perhaps if fewer husbands killed their wives, they wouldn’t “get the short end of the stick” so often. Silly me, but I would have thought that the murder victim is actually the one who got screwed here, but what do I know. But if it makes you feel better Sean, just know that when a husband is murdered, the police also look at their wife. Hope this puts you at ease ✌🏼

I have loved Sean’s other podcasts that kept me on the edge of my seat. I’ve also enjoyed the respect he has shown to the families involved. But this seems just the opposite. Just listened to the Heather Elvis episode and yes-the suspects were very strange-but at the end of it a young girl lost her life. I doubt that her family is pleased with how you found certain aspects of the story so funny. Do better.
