What a phenomenal show! Content is A+, Greg is a fantastic storyteller and narrator who backs it up with top notch research and love for the subjects. I haven’t had this much fun with a show in a long time, and to make it even better the creator sent a thank you when I signed up for the Patreon page which was just an above and beyond move that made me feel right at home. Fantastic work, thank you for the entertainment!

I drive a lot for work so I listen to many podcasts covering many topics. Upon discovering this podcast, it immediately became my favorite of them all. Growing up learning about the history of our country gives you a general knowledge of the events that have taken place, but this podcast allows you to understand the "why" and "how" these events took place. The crew delves deep with their research to give you a thorough understanding of the individuals so you can understand why these individuals made the decisions they made. It allows you to feel like you know these historical figures on a personal level. Getting to know these figures gives the listener a much deeper understanding of our past. I previously found myself looking at these historical figures as these almost flawless individuals who seemed to have all the answers, but the creators of this podcast describe these figures on a deeply personal level through their extensive research and you realize these famous historical figures are just regular men and women doing what they think is best. Along with the plethora of information and knowledge you will gain by listening, the story telling ability of the narrator is phenomenal. It's a very fun listen and it seems like the hour long episodes fly by in seconds.

Never having listened to a full podcast, I am thrilled that my initial introduction was this podcast. HTDS has opened up so many new elements of my knowledge of our history - I’m addicted to this podcast. The team is not only knowledgeable but certainly a pleasure to hear different perspectives in the “recap” shows. Prof Greg does a fabulous job of telling the stories of our past with a holistic perspective. Because of HTDS, I’m fully captivated by finding quality history based podcasts. This show kept me company during the Covid-19 shutdown as I sewed masks for friends....Keep them coming! I can’t wait to hear more! Tell all of your friends about it-......support it with small donation if that’s possible for you....do something to keep educating yourself with quality information and delivery. LOVE IT!

I found this brilliant podcast about a year ago and couldn’t stop listening. The story of this country can be tedious and overwhelming to learn, this podcast breaks it down with personalized stories. You become intimate with the historical figures and their plights through this unique way of teaching it. I have always been a history geek so I considered myself well versed in American history. I have learned so much from HTDS that I couldn’t possibly sum it up here. Professor Jackson seems to go out of his way to properly represent the good and bad in our history and has show that he’s open to debate and amending any misinterpretations. I have and will continue to recommend this podcast to everyone. Well done.

Listened to one episode, “That One Time When George Washington…” This story speaks from a colonial paradigm, utterly disregarding the native peoples on who this story is plastered over. The indigenous nations inhabiting the land being invaded by the subjects of this episode are mentioned in brief to the extreme and even then in a passing glib that diminishes their presence and dismisses their perspective entirely. Whatever the intention, the effect is borne nonetheless: white-washing of this history. Particularly with a platform such as this, there is a great responsibility to the storyteller to convey a full context that is completely missing here.

potential to be a terrific podcast undercut by distracting narration decisions such as calling subjects by abbreviated first name (i.e. Jeff for Jefferson Davis) and repetition of the phrase “closed quote”. Hey narrator, it’s obvious the quote is over, & different verbal clues would be so much better. In any case, it’s so distracting that I just can’t listen anymore.
