This is by far my favorite sports show. Greeny is the master. Hembo, Bubba, Cam are all outstanding voices. I was even down when Carlin and Canty would fill in. And god bless Greeny for doing his thing and and dipping his talent into so many different pools. I love seeing him doing basketball and draft stuff, yadda yadda. But the show’s name is GREENY!!! Even if he was there 3 times a week and 2 days you let Hembo find his groove with someone else (like Evan or whoever), but we go weeks without Greeny even being on the show! That’s aside from vacation time, which everyone deserves. We tune in to hear the voice of the namesake. And I can’t sing praises enough for Hembo, Cam and Bubba. You guys rock!!! Such a good dynamic. But the show is titled incorrectly.

If you’re going to dwell in the regrettable muck of sports talk radio—the illogical narratives, the manufactured drama, the ridiculous prognostications—at least it’s good to have all the nonsense spoken by fun personalities, which this show does have.

I’ve been listening to Greeny since the days of Mike and Mike. I must say, he is as entertaining as ever. While he does miss a lot of time, hearing Greeny, Hembo, and Bubba is fantastic. The perfect combination of sports and casual talk.

When Greeny is on the air he is the best. Problem is he’s not dependable. Between all his other obligations it’s hard to know if he’s going to show up. Too bad, because when he does show up it’s the best of all he does, including Get Up and his NBA obligations.

I hate to give Greeny the 1 star review because of my longtime fandom but he simply doesn’t ever host the show anymore. He used to take off just during holidays, then it became all summer, and now it’s during the busiest sports season of the year. I understand he has a lot on his plate, but if he doesn’t have time to consistently host he should move on from the show and let it become something else. The show is named after him after all, so I don’t think it’s too much to ask for him to host it half of the year. Let the side hosts branch off if he can’t meet this obligation anymore. I will consider changing this review if he becomes a consistent host to his own show again. And it just can’t be for a couple of weeks to launch the new year, which has been the constant pattern for 2-3 years.

I’m a big Greene fan. And he has assembled an interesting cast of producers who are also on-mike talent. Hembo is a top 1% analyst whose numbers bring fascinating insights. And many of the schticks Greeny has created are pretty amusing. So why isn’t this show a five star??
That’s an easy answer. Greene himself says many times, “the most important ability is ‘availability’ “, and roughly 1/3 of the time, perhaps more, he has guest hosts subbing for him. They rarely use his producers on-mike, and when they do, the chemistry with the guest hosts just isn’t there.
It’s a shame. He’s so talented that he is pulled away to do the NFL draft and many other special opportunities. And now that he’s valuable, he can push for his fair share vacation time. But he is stretched too thin, often hosts “Get Up” first thing in the morning, and then leaves as his show “Greene” is coming on. Perhaps they should rename the show: “Lite Greene”.
