Olomi and Hassanein’s storytelling is engaging and compelling, telling history from new perspectives and giving a deep dive into Islamic culture. I listened to Episode 3, “The Harem,” and it completely challenged my preconceived notion of what a harem was and offered me unique explanations of how things were and why they came to be. The conciseness of the podcast captured my interest and kept me engaged for the whole segment – something not always guaranteed on history podcasts. I will definitely continue to hear the rest of the season!

As someone who has no previous knowledge about the game series, it was extremely informative to learn its deep and engaging exploration of historical events. My brother loves this game and he helped me draw connections between the podcast and our learning’s in class such as the main villain Qabiha was a non caliph who had substantial influence over the caliphate. The episodes are rich in detail, providing fresh perspective on Islamic history. It’s a must hear for everybody!

As a long time fan of the assassin creed series I can confidently speak for the fanbase when I say the cultural accuracy to the era and setting is almost as - if not as important as the gameplay. It essentially gives the background of the narrative. Especially in this case - we get to see Basim’s story after his actions in Valhalla. Professor Olomi’s work in construction the cultural background and the accuracy in doing so is phenomenal. I have a good understanding of ancient Arabia but I feel I stand to learn a lot more and what better way to do so than to play an assassin’s creed game. I do feel hiring him as the historian was amazing choice by Ubisoft!
