Once upon a time I was fluent in German. I was an exchange student in what was then West Berlin just to show how long ago that was. I’ve done DuoLingo and tried some podcasts that read the news slow or whatever but didn’t really hold my interest. I love the EasyGerman team and how they have real conversations (with very good articulation and not too fast speaking speed) They bring their authentic selves to the sessions so it feels more like a chill hangout with cool people. Often I’m impressed with myself that I understand 95% or more of the podcast and even find myself laughing at a joke. (Then I panic thinking, ok sure you understood all of that, however, if I were actually in the conversation it would be game over lol because it takes me way too long to formulate a coherent sentence in reply! But that is something to practice.) I’d love to return to Berlin & take some classes with the team IRL! This is great immersion (for listening skill anyway) and I look forward to new episodes. Check out their YouTube too!
Since discovering Easy German, I have begun listening to this podcast to just “swim” in this language daily. On top of language familiarity purposes, I simply love and look forward to the topics and conversations. I also find the personality of Cari and Manuel charming, authentic, example-setting, motivating, and absolutely relatable. Truly enjoy listening to every single episode. Thank these two remarkable human beings impacting so many others by doing what they do!
I’ve been hooked on Easy German content since I saw their Breakfast in Slow German YouTube video. This podcast is perfect for intermediate level learners. I learn new vocabulary, phrases, and lots about life in Germany from the smart, funny, and kind hosts Cari, Manuel, and Janosch.
Don’t listen to this if you want to learn the basics or just learning. They don’t give any translations nor any beginner words. It is completely in German. Listen to this if you just want to listen and get exposure to the language. I’m sure it’s a good podcast, but it’s not for me until I actually learn the basics. 5star review because I hope to get there eventually and I’m sure it’s helped other people. It’s just not for me right now.
I do like this show but I’ve heard one too many very biased political discussions from them. They are extremely biased and label many people they don’t agree with. I wish they’d be a little more open-minded, because this attitude is causing a lot of the problems we have in society today. It’s honestly embarrassing to hear so much close-minded, name-calling rhetoric especially from Germany. You’d think Cari and Manuel would have learned from their country’s past mistakes
