Wow!! Felt like I was on pins and needles while listening to these episodes. This story was terrifying, unnerving, and so completely fascinating as I came to understand more about the complexities of the overlap between the medical and legal systems. Who knew it would be so challenging to get a physician on trial??

I enjoyed the first couple seasons. The title Dr. Death and the first season set this podcast up for the expectation that it is about real doctors and their poor medical practice. However, season 4 is more like a scamfluencer season about a person pretending to be a doctor. It was a fun listen but doesn’t feel like it’s fitting for this podcast. I do enjoy Laura’s podcasts though. Hopefully next season we’ll be back on track.

I actually really enjoyed season 4. What a fascinating story and deeply troubling for ethics that so many people completely ignored the major red flags. Also the fact that he was an actual magician was darkly funny.
My issue is that Wondery seems to not realize the deep irony of putting ads for betterhelp in a podcast about medical scams. That website is a joke and the fact that podcasts who tell stories about crime, murder and scams take their ad money is morally bankrupt.

Dr. Death is THE podcast that got me into podcasts, years ago when the first season was released. Whenever a new season comes out, it’s like Christmas. You can tell that a lot of work goes into these. The quality is A+.

I’m not sure it’s well edited. They dip into a lot of interesting angles to the story but then keep dropping the thread and picking it up randomly in other episodes. A bit hard to really get into that way.

I loved seasons 1 and 2. My rating has to do with Season 3. I cannot tell you how much I DO NOT care about the woman in the third season. She’s upset about missing a wedding, meanwhile this surgeon killed people. The imbalanced focus on her story is actually offensive to the victims of this surgeon. Do better please.
