What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

Dave Gebroe is one of the most insightful, passionate and smartest interviewers I’ve heard. he thinks way outside the box comes at his subjects from unexpected angles. I listen to a lot of podcasts. Discograffiti informs and entertains me with shows on artists I love and introduces me and piques my interest in those that are new to me. bravo!

Graettinger · Jun 2025

This should be the podcast by which all other podcasts are measured. I have been enthralled and engaged in the detailed facts that go into every episode. I have actually listened to the same episodes repeatedly simply out of sheer enjoyment. I have found myself not being able to listen to other music podcasts now because they seem so amateurish compared to Discograffiti. But that’s okay, Discograffiti provides more than enough and is well worth listening to. P.s. - “And Your Dreams Come True” was a dream come true for me! Thanks Dave.

Dave puts the labor in labor of love. The dude comes so prepared to every interview - his depth of knowledge is astounding and his deep and sincere interest in his subjects comes across every time. Prepared meets earnest meets going deeper than anyone on the internet. Cheers, Dave.

DoctorRobertSF · Jun 2025

This is one of the best music podcasts that will ever exist. The love, devotion, and passion Dave pours into his work is palpable and contagious. I end every episode wanting to immediately listen to that artist’s whole catalog. He knows his stuff and doesn’t waste your time with frivolous nonsense. Every episode is packed with characters and stories about your favorite artists you’ve probably never heard about. He has a way of getting the best out of every interviewee. It might not be palatable for the casual listener, but if you’re a music obsessive like me, this is pretty much as good as it gets.

HeyNongMan81 · Dec 2024

The podcast covers the kind of music that I like and they nab excellent guests but the host is a strong contender for worst interviewer in the entire podcast industry. Every time he interviews a guest who I am interested in, he ruins the listening experience by doing 98% of the talking. He never gives his guests space to breathe, opines as nauseam with ridiculous pre-written. commentary on the music being discussed, asks 5 minute long “questions” that are, in actuality, opinions disguised as questions, and sometimes will try to “correct” his guests regarding their own biographical information - see his conversation with Dean Wareham regarding the breakdown of his friendship with the other members of Galaxie 500. The guests get a word in here or there but I have genuinely never heard a less competent interviewer. Anyways, the host is comically pompous and unlistenable. Every episode, you will hear him explain that he quit his job and moved his family, including his young child, back to the east coast (the horror!) to focus on making the pod. I can’t help but laugh that this guy banked it all on a skill that he is completely lacking. Weird choice, dude.
