What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

A great show (at times) for positive masculinity; whether you’re a dad or not, you get a great discussion each episode. It’s made me examine how toxic I was brought up and basically I feel like Thomas’s dad and my own shared the exact same parenting styles. When the guys are good, they’re great! Holy cow the ads though! It’s nice they acknowledge it with the auto ads jokes, but still. Latest episode was 50 minutes, 12.5 was ads, so literally 1/4 of the total runtime was ads. Which given it’s a podcast with Thomas Smith is sadly to be expected, the dude is a great guy, but somehow has more ads than any other podcaster I’ve ever listened to.

Found this show through Cognitive Dissonance and I’m glad I came on over. I’m a mom but it’s nice to hear what goes on in the minds of dads. Often I find myself agreeing and I also have more empathy for my partner and how he navigates fatherhood. Also all three of the hosts are so funny together. Love the banter and the rapport and the laughter and jokes.

Caprimom · May 2026

I love listening to the conversations Thomas, Eli, and Tom have on this podcast. I’ll never have kids myself, but I still find myself eagerly waiting for the next episode of Dear Old Dads to be released. Hands down, this podcast is my favorite. RIP INTO IT!

OneTrueJASH · Sep 2025

This is my favorite podcast, I’m a dad and I relate to Tom a lot… sometimes so much I’m like “Am I Tom?!”. This show has made be a better dad, a better husband, and a better person. I recommend this show to everyone who will listen.

Jimillett · Jun 2025

I used to love this show, but the hosts are becoming more grating over time. Eli is the most annoying. His “bits” get played out way too far. He can turn a 10 second story into 10 minutes of bad voices and awful jokes. I think he makes up or exaggerates almost all of his stories. His fake laugh is also so annoying! That said, he can be one of the more insightful people on the pod. Tom also has super unhealthy, old fashioned beliefs to the point I don’t necessarily believe he is a feminist or even feminist friendly. He borders on manosphere tropes including “traditional” gender roles. Thomas is my favorite, but if you don’t know he has ADHD, you will because not an episode goes by of any of his podcasts where he doesn’t mention it. He also complains so much about the amount of work he does, even though it seems he’s offloaded a lot of it to his wife. As sad as I am to do it, I’ve reached to point where I’ll be unsubscribing and cancelling my Patreon.
