I started listening when they were on like episode 4. During that time I was in a DV situation. I knew it but was in denial. These girls helped me through that time. They helped me realize what my situation was. They helped me find a way out. I was listening to them as I packed the kids and my stuff. And as we drove. The “in case I go missing” folder type episodes have saved us for than once. (I attract danger I guess). They have also inspired me to become a local advocate for DV and mental health.
And my dogs love Chucks sign off. Silent Juno pretends to howl too. She’s a Dalmatian/Dane mix.

I’ve been listening to crime junkie for years now and I’m still hooked. Both Ashley & Britt have the most soothing voices and are just the most authentic and kind hosts I could ask for. I would be friends with them IRL. Over the years they’ve shared tidbits about themselves that have made me feel like I know them. At the same time, the focus is on victims and respecting them. I truly feel like they are doing a civic duty just by getting these stories out for the public so victims are remembered. I love that they offer ways for the public to help, whether that’s donating to a charity or by urging people to call local law enforcement if they saw something regarding a case. Ashley & Britt are respectful, genuine, and caring to the people involved in their subject material and their listeners. I like that they don’t get too political, and while they address some of the poor decisions law enforcement has made in the past, they don’t hate law enforcement. On the contrary, I believe they actually admire and respect good law enforcement, but without talking about the bad cops and holding them accountable, there wouldn’t be any change. I LIVE by the crime junkie life rules!!! I wish I knew some of these back when I was in college because I feel like even I have made mistakes and put myself in situations where I was lucky to be alive. I wish everyone could listen to this podcast, especially young girls who (like me) think they’re invincible and independent when they’re an adolescent. It’s sad that we live in the world we do, but knowledge is power. Be weird, be rude, stay ALIVE! I love you guys & crime junkie so much and I listen to you practically everyday. Thank you for the fantastic work you are doing. Keep it up!

I’ve been listening to the show for a while but today I felt compelled to finally leave a review. Your JonBenet episode was top-notch. I was fully immersed for the full three hours and even learned a few new things. That’s coming from somebody who grew up in Colorado (not too far from Boulder) and was about 11 years old at the time of her death. I love your conversational tone; it’s clear you are both incredibly bright, well researched, and that you truly care about the victims you report on. A+.

Except for the cohost. I’ve seen other reviews address this as well. Adds nothing to the podcast other than a ringing in my ear. But I do love pretty much everything else about it. The research. The attention it brings to cases, issues with policing in our communities, racial profiling, how biases can ruin an investigation, etc. We have a relative who’s murder has gone unsolved for over thirty years and appeared on Unsolved Mysteries. I’m hoping one day it gets covered. Ashley does a fabulous job. Thank you for all you do!

The hosts seem to forget that they are speaking about real people and not fictional characters being made up for entertainment purposes. The episode on Jonbenet was so inappropriately done. Lightheartedly speaking about a child being sexually assaulted and giggling during very serious and disturbing details was horrific. Unfollowing in every way possible. Also throwing out your own child’s underwear size for millions to listen to…just so gross and unnecessary! I can’t believe how bad this podcast has gotten.

It is shocking to me that this is one of the most listened to crime podcasts primarily because they do zero original reporting and basically provide a narration of the Cliff’s Notes of other actual journalist’s reporting. When you add in the terribly scripted-to-sound-authentic “banter” it makes me cringe throughout the episode. I’ve listened to multiple episodes assuming the rest must be great. They’re not.
If they did any actual original reporting and shared any new, never before seen or heard facts, and if they did that with genuine conversation instead of scripts that attempt to sound authentic, I might give it another try.
