OOPS! I Screwed Up!
I subscribe to my own podcasts, not because I'm some kind of narcissist or I'm trying to boost my stats, but because when I see the download happen on my podcatcher, I know the feed is working OK. A couple of days ago, I happened to actually listen to . The edits were sloppy. Then the episode "ended," but I kept going...and I realized I had uploaded a partial edit with raw tape at the end. Fortunately, I didn't say anything embarrassing. I'd already found a BIG problem in the episode that I wanted to talk about before I realized the editing mistake. On this episode, I talk about that as well as "rules" you should always follow when recording your podcast. Don't Let Your Podcast Be Ignored - to get 25 podcast episode (and segment) templates.

The "Pod Decks" Switcheroo - Part 2 (w/ Larry Roberts)
On the , I talked about (and used them) with Dave Jackson from . I like the idea of Pod Decks, so on this episode, I asked the same Pod Decks questions to Larry Roberts from just to see what would happen and also to get a second opinion on the value of using Pod Decks as a podcasting tool. SPOILER ALERT: Pod Decks is a cool system that has a lot of flexibility and will allow you to go places with your interviewing that you probably wouldn't go otherwise. Pod Decks alone won't make you a better interviewer, that's something that only happens from spending time behind the mic, but it's a fun tool that will help you create some great episodes of your podcast. Sounds good, right? On this episode, I put Pod Decks to the test with Dave Jackson from . Don't Let Your Podcast Be Ignored - to grow your podcast audience now.

Naked Models (And Your Podcast)
I had a friend who's an audio engineer for a major rock act and, when he wasn't on tour one season, did a stint as a "college professor" teaching audio engineering. He was vulgar as fuck. Sorry, I had to. This guy would go in the classroom and say all sorts of stuff, always followed by, "Oh, sorry, that's the road talking." That kind of language is standard operating procedure when it comes to the touring business. We have similar things when it comes to podcasting. And if you don't watch yourself, it will get you in trouble. On this episode I talk about working around this issue. I also share a couple of stories about naked models. The Big Podcast Submarine
I'm back. I never actually went anywhere, but I'm been working on other podcasting projects which have kept me from this podcast more than I'd prefer. The Podcast Academy
Is it Podcast Academy or The Podcast Academy? Or maybe it's the Academy of Podcasters? This episode is about The Podcast Academy. I wrote it off initially, but I'm giving it a second look now that Rob Greenlee is involved. It's still a very new organization and, like many podcasts, they seem to be figuring things out as they go. Still, I think The Podcast Academy might be worth a punt. More thoughts in this episode... How To Make Your Podcast More Interesting To People
On the , I often share photos from the "studios" podcasters use to create their podcasts. I say "studios" in quotes, because many people who send me photos will attach a note that says something like, "It's not a real studio." If you're making a podcast there, it's a real studio. And the closets full of clothing that people work from are much more interesting to look at and read about than a professional-grade, sound-treated "studio" with a huge mixing console. Same for the funny things that happen during your podcast. For example, if a dog walks in on you. Or you hear a car horn honking outside your window. I'm not giving you permission to be sloppy of throw in the towel on caring about listener experience, but I am saying it's OK for you to be real. People who like podcasts don't want perfect, they want real. On this episode, I answer a couple of related questions from podcast who participated in the . Podcasting With A Mask

Easy Money For Podcasters
Podcast advertising is changing – have you noticed? For one, there's a lot more advertising for hair dye now that we're in quarantine and people can't get their hair professionally colored. But this episode isn't about advertising. Or hair dye. This is an episode about how to make money with podcasting equipment you already own. If that's what you want to do with this idea... You might like it so much that you do it free. Don't Let Your Podcast Be Ignored - to get 25 podcast episode (and segment) templates.

How To Change Opinions With Your Podcast
The National Association of Broadcasters released a PSA on coronavirus ( for use on your podcast) this week, so I thought it would be a good idea to talk about the overall concept of Public Service Announcements and how you can use existing PSAs or do something similar on your own to change opinions and create a specific outcome. Note that the PSA within this episode can be used not only on your podcast but anywhere you release material online. I attached it to a on Instagram to double-down on getting accurate information about this situation out to the public. The PSA is a powerful concept and goes way beyond coronavirus or "advertising." It's easy to do with as little as an extra sentence or two, so I hope you'll consider options for your podcast. Don't Let Your Podcast Be Ignored - to get 25 podcast episode (and segment) templates.

A Big Opportunity For Your Podcast
It seems the whole world is on "lockdown" right now due to COVID-19 fears. But on a positive side, podcasters have an opportunity to help this situation. The is where to get accurate COVID-19 info. How To Screw Up Your Podcast Audio Quality
I finally (!!!) finished recording and editing the audiobook version of . Then I ran into an issue... Because I was punching in and editing some of the pauses, some of the "breathing noise" got chopped. And that sounds weird. I knew it might be an issue, and it probably wouldn't have been a big deal had this been a book for people with a "normal" understanding of audio. But you're a podcaster and you have a more advanced ear. So I've got a little bit more work to do on this... I thought I might be crazy, so I sent a clip to Dave Jackson from School of Podcasting to get his opinion. He sent back the clip after running it through a "debreath" plugin, which did get rid of the breathing sounds, but took a little too much out. In this episode, I play "before" and "after" clips and let you judge for yourself. LESSON LEARNED: You can only do so much with your audio once it's on tape, so make sure you get something great on tape. Don't rely on automation of fixing things after the fact, because you may not have what you need to work with. Don't Let Your Podcast Be Ignored - to get 25 podcast episode (and segment) templates.

Thinking About Writing A Book?
It's common for podcasters to tell me, "I've been thinking about doing a book." And that makes sense. As a podcaster, you have a message and a lot of ideas around it. But writing a book can be a lot of work. I know, because I've done a few of them. The more recent one, , took about four years. Grant Baldwin of just released . His approach was different than mine. On this episode, you'll hear from Grant himself about how this book came together and learn about an option for getting your book out.
