I’ve been listening to The Balanced Black Girl podcast for about a month now and am so glad to have found this gem. The episodes are conversational, digestible, and maybe most importantly, actionable. Les is bringing together smart, driven, and intentional Black and Brown women from all different backgrounds and disciplines to deliver pearls of wisdom straight to our phones. Whether you’re looking to achieve better balance in your eating habits, your fitness routine, your self-care regimen, or even your self-image, Les and her guests have you covered.

And I’m not kidding when I say I came for the wellness but stayed for the adult friendships. Each time Les very kindly asked for a review, I knew I loved and was getting value out of this podcast but didn’t know what to say to convey that value to others. Now I know: Feel Good Friday #19, which talks about making and keeping friendships in adulthood, had me immediately making a list of how to make more friends in my relatively new city—some plans are for post-COVID but some are actionable now—AND had me texting my grad school friends to arrange a virtual happy hour for this weekend. I’m eternally grateful for the friendships I have now, I’m committed to making more friends locally, and Les’s episode about adult friendships, like so much of her other content, gave me the spark to bring those priorities to the forefront. Thank you, Les, for creating this platform and help lighting a fire under your listeners.

I’ve followed Lestraundra since she founded The Balanced Berry and have always appreciated her directness, practical advice and workouts, humor, and uncanny ability to drop R&B references. Listening to her podcast is like sitting down with your best friend and getting the advice you’ve needed for so long but didn’t know how to ask. She always keeps it real because, like she says, “Tough love is still love.”

Thank you for putting out a pod! This was so needed.

I started listening to this podcast and following Les just a couple of months ago after hearing her talk about strength training on the Food Heaven podcast. I’m SO glad I started following because Les and her wonderfully real podcast is just what I needed. What really made me appreciative was her episode on how to feel confident at the gym - she acknowledged the bro-like culture that can often exist in gyms and then went to giving out these amazing affirmations about how “you are worthy of being in that gym just like everybody else” and it really had a positive impact on me. So grateful for her good vibes and her candid nature; this is the wellness podcast I needed! 😊

Les does an incredible job bringing in guests that have powerful stories and perspectives that push against what we’ve be been conditioned to believe throughout our lives. The conversations are always so natural too, I feel like I’m hanging out on the couch with y’all just going on with the episode. I have to say that the episode with Maria Rodriguez was magical. Maria has such an amazing story and shares it with such honesty and openness - it truly showcases how resilient she is and how determined she is to create space and accessibility for everyone. Thank you for providing this platform so stories like Maria’s can be heard!
