I have followed and unfollowed several true-crime podcasts, and without question, this is among the best. Scott and Anna Sigga deftly and genuinely weave their years of professional experience into the narrative, backed by solid interviews with law enforcement and family members involved in each case. I believe too many podcasts deal with true crime in a superficial way. AOM is not one of these! Credible and informative.

I almost never leave reviews but this show earned it. I love Crime Junkies, The Deck, Park Predators and pretty much all shows that Audiochuck puts out but this one is easily top 2. I love getting to hear from family members of the victims or the victims themselves. I also appreciate getting to walk through the process with detectives on many of the cases and understand all that goes into prosecuting them. The hosts are very respectful to the victims and overall, the show is a huge hit for me. I would absolutely recommend adding this to your podcast library if you enjoy true crime. I’ll be so sad when I’ve binged them all and have to wait weekly for new episodes!

I love this true crime podcast. There are many to chose from but this is my favorite because you don’t have lay people simply retelling a story. Instead, you have an ex District Attorney and Investigator who know the law. They’re able to tell us why certain things are done and not done. They know how to read reports and decipher them. Plus they bring in the people, if possible, who actually worked the case. I enjoy facts, not speculation which is what you get from this podcast.

I’ve been a fan of many other true crime investigation podcasts, but this one tops it for me. The storytelling is incredible, you feel immersed in the investigation as it unfolds in each episode, and you feel the many range of emotions that come from hearing both the good and the bad—the two part needle in a needle stack episodes got me right in the feels.

This podcast isn’t exploitative, graphic, vulgar, or heavily focused on the murderer, which I love. Many of these episodes give you hope and remind you just how good people can be in seeking justice, from law enforcement agents that won’t stop despite the odds, to the many others involved willing to sacrifice their time to solve a case and bring justice and hopefully peace to the victims families.

At first, I really enjoyed this podcast. I liked the way the hosts construct the narratives and their background grants good insight when it comes to explaining the steps of an investigation and prosecution to a lay person.
However, it’s very important to me that the content I consume is “ethically sourced.” No one is perfect but I don’t want to be complacent in benefitting a party that is negatively contributing to society, i.e. Anna-Sigga Nicolazzi. Throughout her career as a prosecutor, she’s played a vital role in wrongful convictions and her actions make it clear that her values align more with winning than with justice. She discusses the evidence of cases as if she hasn’t been confirmed to have suppressed evidence from the defense in order to get a conviction.
For this reason, I cannot, in good conscience, support this show. If your only concern is being entertained, then this show is for you! This review is for all of my ethical consumers out there. I didn’t know about this when I first started listening to the show and I wish I had.

I can no longer ignore the racially tone-deaf dialogue of these episodes. It is very clear this is told from a white persons perspective and it’s embarrassing. Episode 126 is the last one for me to endure; I stopped the episode and unsubscribed. Then came here to finally write a review so I can purge my self-guilt of ignoring and continuing to listen to this podcast.

The description of how the neighborhood was changing (like many neighborhoods in Brooklyn- which was given as a comparison) after “economic down turn” was used AGAIN in this episode. Use the truth so you can stop sounding foolishly ignorant. The neighborhood was being GENTRIFIED - aka it was now seen as having value again because of white peoples’ free will to move their way back into neighborhoods after years of racial profiling, discrimination, neglect etc. etc. , BECAUSE of white flight. Then the comment about the neighborhood wanting more police presence- that was it for me. I can’t and won’t with this podcast anymore.

I assume both hosts are intelligent people in their profession. Now it’s time to become racially intelligent especially since their podcast uses people color to make their money. Stop taking advantage of people of color in this podcast until you can figure out how to be honest with yourselves and how you tell the story.
