What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

I can’t remember how many years I’ve been listening to your podcast, but I’m so grateful that I can continue to learn something new every single day. I have to say, the new approach of releasing series on specific topics like the Olympics and politics is AWESOME! I love these topics, and they've truly helped me connect more deeply with everyday life in the U.S.. Thank you for your team’s dedication. It makes all the difference.☺️

Hi Lindsay, Michelle, Aubrey and Jessica! I have been your listener for almost two years after moving to the US for work. Each episode is so helpful to learn native speaker’s expressions used in everyday settings, which is difficult to learn in an English class and textbooks. I also learn American culture from your conversations. I am glad when I find such native expressions in TV shows and articles. I am motivated very much by the episodes updated almost everyday. I also subscribed 5 mins Quiz and B2 course. Thank you for your great job.

Hi Lindsay, Michelle, Jessica, Aubrey! So excited to share with you that I just finished all episodes of AEE today! I initially found your amazing podcast at the start of the pandemic and listened to dozens of your episodes daily while I was doing experiments alone in the lab in the midnights (our lab set a schedule to avoid social contact). Sadly I broke my phone at the end of 2020 and lost all podcast records. I picked up AEE again at the beginning of 2022 and have stuck to 3 episodes a day since then. I re-listened to all the episodes I had listened to and gradually went back in time. Your voices accompanied me in my alone time for so long that I feel you 4 are like my close friends. It’s such a weird thing since we never met. I took your connected communicator course last year and learned so much about the US, where I’m planning to immigrate. Thank you for bringing so many wonderful things to the English learning community. I also want to share with you that I scored 30 on TOEFL Listening last month with zero preparation and I think I owe all that to you four, my amazing remote teachers/friends! I’m now listening to Business English (and the upcoming new AEE of course). Hope I can listen to you forever. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ (PS. Did you remake the first 200 or so episodes? As I went back in time, I was a little excited to hear how Lindsay sounded more than 10 years ago, only to find the very old ones had been remade. But it was a pleasant surprise to hear Aubrey’s voice after so long!)

Hello!! I'm Shiori(she/her), originally from Japan, but I currently live in NY. I've been listening to your podcast before I moved to NY, and it's super helpful to improve my English skills! I recommend this podcast to all my Japanese friends around me, and everyone loves it! I have a question about using the idiom “in a way.” I've heard of it many times within your conversation, for example, from the episode 2052, “This is kind of like very in fashion IN A WAY because of this moment we’re living in the world.” I looked up several dictionaries, but I just can't seem to get the nuances of the words. Could you please explain how and when you put this idiom in your sentences naturally? Thank you in advance!! Love you!!

First, there is too much advertisement. They will push on you their ads non-stop. Second, the authors are too woke. Almost every podcast comes with comments regarding COVID vaccines, DEI and such. If you want to get a podcast just about English, look somewhere else- American English podcast, Hadar Hemesh’s podcast just to name a few.
